Why Biotin Interferes With Lab Tests
Many modern immunoassays use a biotin–streptavidin binding system. Highdose biotin from supplements (especially “hair, skin & nails” formulas) can distort results, making some tests appear falsely high and others falsely low.
This can lead to misdiagnosis, especially for thyroid and cardiac conditions.
